A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Brody greeted the runner nicely with a relaxed demeanor and wide eyes. He was easily leashed/removed form the kennel and was taken to the catch pen. Brody was collared/leashed with ease soliciting petting during the process. Brody greeted the dogs at the barrier nicely and was allowed into the play yard. Brody displayed a relaxed body, open mouth pant, high tail with a soft wag, natural ear set, and wide soft eyes. He exchanged greetings nicely with a relaxed demeanor. Brody moved on and explored the yard sniffing/marking various locations. Brody continued to socialize nicely although his initial approach does appear tense. He exchanged play bows and participated in play chase for some time. Brody often took breaks from play to 'sploot' and cool down. He continued to socialize and play nicely for the majority of the play session. Brody also approached the handler's seeking engagement from them. Brody maintained a relaxed and social demeanor displaying a gentle/dainty play style. Brody could benefit from further socialization and confidence building. See additional assessment for placement recommendations. Brody displayed a relaxed body, open mouth pant, natural ear set, relaxed tail wag, and wide eyes with a neutral gaze. The handler called Brody over to them and he approached, allowing petting. His demeanor became loose/wiggly but maintained his wide-eyed neutral gaze. Brody allowed the handler to examine his ears, mouth, abdomen, back, lower extremities, and tail without incident. Brody maintained a loose wiggly demeanor and continued to solicit petting post assessment. Brody is ok for public adoption medium energy level calm dogs.
