While he did approach some dogs to sniff, his tendency to mount led to minor scuffles?so Strider will do best as the only dog in the home. πŸš«πŸ• During his handling assessment, Strider showed a slightly tense posture, concerned gaze, and occasionally turned his body away, but he allowed a full exam without issue. He remained gentle, responsive, and willing. 🌟 He also passed his resource-guarding assessment with a calm demeanor, soft gaze, relaxed tail, and no signs of concern?just an easygoing boy during feeding. 🍽️✨ Strider may be unsure at first, but slow introductions and a patient home will help him feel secure. He?s a sweet, manageable guy who needs guidance, routine, and love. πŸ’•πŸΎ November 13, 2025 E25-089857 NEW ASSESSMENT DOWNEY A5736725 The behaviors described today reflect the dog?s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. Strider A5736725 (Intact) was easily retrieved from his kennel and led to the catch pen, where he was collared and leashed without issue prior to entering the yard. Once inside the yard, Strider appeared more interested in exploring the environment, as he ignored the dogs that came forward to greet him. Eventually, Strider began approaching some of the dogs and sniffing them from behind, which at times resulted in an attempt to mount them. One of the dogs corrected him with a growl as a signal for space, causing Strider to walk away. He moved on to roaming the yard, exhibiting a neutral body posture as he sniffed the dogs he met along the way. Later, Strider repeated the same behavior, causing a minor scuffle with one of the dogs, but both of them paused when being corrected by the handlers. The session concluded early, as Strider continued the same behavior. He was moved to the side yard to begin his handling assessment. Strider could benefit from a home with no other dogs due to his impulsive behavior. Strider was in a seated position as the handler slowly palpated his ears, mouth, stomach, tail, and legs, though occasionally turning his body away from the handler as a sign of discomfort during the process. He exhibited a slightly tense body posture, with a concerned gaze, an open-mouth pant, a low tail, and a set of natural ears. Once the session concluded, he remained in the yard to begin his resource guarding assessment. Strider maintained a calm composure while he was interfered with by the tool, exhibiting a neutral body posture, a soft gaze, an open-mouth pant, a natural ear set, and a low, relaxed tail. The handler continued to assess Strider?s response during feeding, though he appeared unbothered. Once the session concluded, he was returned to his kennel without issue.
