This assessment should be considered a snapshot in time that will require updating as new information or behaviors emerge. It should not be relied upon to predict future behavior or as a statement of overall temperament. For additional information about an animal's behavior, please contact the animal care center. EVALUATION DATE: 2026-09-22 DOG SOCIAL SKILLS: CALM DOGS (REQ) i SMALL DOG SOCIAL \"OVERALL SCORE\": NEEDS ASSESSMENT i ENERGY LEVEL: MEDIUM i TRAINING RECOMMENDATION: IMPULSE CONTROL i EVALUATION COMMENTS: 'The behaviors described today reflect the dog's responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs and exchanged soft greetings with them both. After the dogs broke away, she began to roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to exchange soft greetings with most of the dogs, but she did have a tense forward posture with a male Pyrenees at one point, and a handler broke her focus. She would approach the handlers and seek affection. She also climbed into the pool a couple of times and enjoyed playing in there. She remained more social when the dogs were calm. When dogs began to run and play, she would become aroused by this, chasing them and biting at them. Her arousal would build the longer this went on and handlers had to break her focus. Due to her arousal issues displayed today, she will remain as calm dogs required. Due to being previously quarantined, she will also require a bite disclosure form.
