A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out ' or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. He was timid with a low body but tolerated the runner clasping the collar around her neck. He slowly and cautiously entered the play yard while scanning the yard. He lowered his body when a few dogs came up to him and sniffed his body. He tolerated them sniffing his body until they lingered near his face. He exposed his teeth while whining and slowly backed away. An energetic female approached and enticed him for play. He snapped at her while backing away, waring her for space. He began running up to the handlers and sitting between their legs, using them for affection and a banier from the other dogs. As time passed, he relaxed a little. He was much more tolerant of calm dogs coming up while lingering near his face. He was never comfortable with playful dogs and kept his distance. He did offer a few more appropnate wamings to a male pit bull who was very obnoxious. He preferred keeping near the handlers for affection and reassurance than he was interacting with the other dogs.
