Dottie is an adoptable female Labrador Retriever looking for a home at Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is a young adult and x-large in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 2 days left, listed due to other. Adopting Dottie, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Intake Info: Dottie A2340165 came to us after a concerned citizen contacted our police department. Dottie has experienced instability, and her owner is no longer able to keep her where she currently resides. Medical: Dottie is a young adult, overweight female who is heartworm negative, spayed, and up to date on vaccines. HS-2. Behavior Notes: We used Dottie for Willard's dog test. Dottie allowed Willard to approach and sniff her while she continued sniffing the ground. Eventually, she stopped sniffing and greeted Willard back. They walked around together and greeted each other a few more times before being brought back inside. Staff Notes: Dottie is nervous but handleable. She is visibly wary and scared of men but does great with women. She loves being baby-talked to and spoken to kindly and is a super sweet girl once she warms up. Some anxious/nervous shedding was observed. She required a very slow and gentle approach, and her tail remained tucked between her legs throughout the exam. Request to Rescues: Dottie is a sweet, timid girl who is in need of rescue that can give her the safe and stable home she deserves and a chance at a fresh start. Unfortunately, she is not able to remain with her current owner, and we are looking for a rescue that can help ensure she is placed in the right home where she will feel safe and secure.
