A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' He was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. He entered the yard with soft body language and then laid down. He tolerated two dogs sniffing him as he lay there. After the dogs broke away, he began to explore the yard, but he walked timidly with a very low body. He was tolerant of dogs trailing him to sniff him. After some time, he began to grow in confidence and no longer walked with a low body. He began to approach the other dogs and exchange soft greetings with them. As time passed, he continued to gain confidence and offered a play bow to a female Pitbull. She retuned the play bow and they engaged in gentle/dainty play. He remained social with the other dogs for the rest of his time in the yard. He would approach the handlers and seek affection. Bubba is social with the other dogs and prefers a gentle/dainty play style. He will need socialization to walking on leash.
