A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a male Pitbull and exchanged a tense greeting with him, with hackles raised, high tail wag and wide eyes. She was then approached by a female shepherd and displayed the same tense body language. She began to roam the yard and explore. She explored the yard to herself, and she could see dogs playing as she roamed the yard, but she displayed no arousal issues or interest in them at this time. After exploring the yard, she began to exchange some better greetings with some of the dogs. She would approach the handlers and seek affection. Toward the end of her time in the yard, dogs were being exited from the play yard. Once it got down to the last dog in the yard, which was a social male pointer mix, she became focused on him. She approached him and stood with a forward body posture, high tail wag and hackles raised. She then began to press her muzzle against his neck. He was uncomfortable and began to run away to create space from her. She remained focused on him, chasing him and biting toward his neck. A handler was able to step on the long line leash she was wearing and prevent her from pursuing him further. She was then removed from the yard at this time. Due to her sudden switch to offensive behavior completely unprovoked, combined with a previous attack on another dog, she will be designated as no other dogs required. Due to the prior incident, she will also require a known history of aggression disclosure and bite disclosure forms.
