Buddy is an adoptable male Black Mouth Cur looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is a young adult and large in size. 08/22/2026 Dog displays sociability with handler by coming over to greet with a loose body and a wagging tail and is easy to leash and walk outside where he walks well on leash. He displays sociability with all handlers by coming over for treats and affection with a loose body and a wagging tail. He displays sociability with dogs at barrier by greeting appropriately with a loose body and a wagging tail. He is easy to return to kennel. 08/24/2026 Dog was evaluated with Chicharr'n (A815504) for co-housing. Dog was excited to exit the kennel and jumped up but was easy to leash and walk outside. During the initial greeting, Dog appropriately engaged with Chicharr'n and demonstrated reciprocal play. Dog and Chicharr'n alternated initiating play, independently took breaks, and sought each other out to resume interaction. Dog responded appropriately to Chicharr'n's corrections and demonstrated appropriate canine communication throughout the interaction. Dog also responded well to direction from people and other dogs. Dog was highly affiliative toward people, seeking physical affection and enjoying petting and cuddling. Overall, Dog demonstrated appropriate social behavior and was comfortable engaging in both play and affiliative interactions.
