Memo 8/25/2026 08/25/26 12:17 Canine has exhibited escalating behavior that resulted in a bite incident while in care. Placement with a New Hope Partner is required by close of business 8/30/26 to provide behavior intervention in a non-shelter setting. May be at risk for euthanasia 8/31/26 or sooner if warranted. **Interested parties should be aware canine is unable to be picked up until 8/28/26.** Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 8/25/2026 Updating color due to NHO status. 8/19/2026 Updating color level due to bite. 8/18/2026 Volunteer Approached EET with concerns after outing, listing concerns during pull, of leash biting and attempting to pull leash in, Volunteer was able to get assistance from another volunteer and was able to get the dog out, they took the dog to the yard and the dog was avoidant. When returning dog, dog fought heavily against return. 8/14/2026 Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in treats, Easy/Loose Leash, Timid, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, Quick leash, initially swirly on leash, ignored dogs on exit; shy but approached handler, explored yard; allowed pets but did not come all the way in; loose leash on walk, not startled by passing vehicles; did not want treats; on return, medium leash pressure to kennel easy unleash 8/9/2026 Solicited attentions, Playful, Easy to pull from kennel, Difficult to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Takes treats nicely, Stop and go, Calm, Timid, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, BROM: Leashed w/4 on the floor. Timid in yard played \"touch & go\" with treats. Allowed petting w/ slow hand. Stop/go during walk, nudged hand for more treats. Initially braked upon return to kennel; needed to be lifted over threshold for return. 8/2/2026 Solicited attentions, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Played with toys, Takes treats nicely, Easy/Loose Leash, Appeared interested when walking past kennels, BROM: Calm on approach, walked right into leash, shy re: petting at frst, easy leash retrieval on return. 7/29/2026 7/27/2026 Solicited attentions, Easily startled, Moderate to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Takes treats nicely, Easy/Loose Leash, Calm, High Energy 7/21/2026 Easily startled, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Takes treats nicely, Easy/Loose Leash, Calm, Timid, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, shy boy, a bit timid when handler tried to pet but did allow all pets. hesitated a few times during our walk but just convinced him with soft voice to keep walking. very calm and sweet boy. allowed all pets. 7/11/2026 Avoidant, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Takes treats nicely, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, ignores dogs on walk to yard but once in yard he will run to the fence and bark at dogs and people walking adjacent. high alert in yard stopping to look at any noise and startles easily, will come to me for a treat but backs away with attempts to pet. allows some pets after rtn 7/5/2026 Separated from kennelmate due to redirection fight. Dogs were both closed inside for cleaning, at front of kennel. Another dog was walked by; neighboring dogs began barking, jumping. This dog and kennelmate began redirecting onto each other, unclear which dog instigated but both dogs engaged in fight. Handler approached, clapped hands firmly and called out. Dogs separated. Re-engaged in fight a few moments later when neighboring dogs began reacting to same dog being walked away. Handler used squeaky toy to distract dogs; dogs broke away from each other, no visible injuries noted. Able to be separated via divider. 7/5/2026 Moved to new kennel. Dog was at front of kennel, wagging tail. Head-shy of leash but allowed slow placement. Dog walked with moderate pull, some zig-zag, appeared unsure of leash. Occasionally stopped, spun on leash, pulled back. Handler was able to coax dog into settling, then dog continued. Walked into empty kennel wing(other dogs closed outside). Dog stayed near handler, flinched on initial touch then allowed petting. Took treats gently while waiting for kennel to be cleaned. Handler guided dog into kennel, dog pushed back out. Nervous, easily startled. Handler stepped into kennel, guided dog to follow in, then tossed treats as distraction while stepping out. Able to remove leash by hand. 7/5/2026 Soft and wiggly, easy leashing, allowed all handling and vaccine booster, easy kennel return, easy leash removal. 7/3/2026 Dog did not eat 7/1/2026 Solicited attentions, Playful, Moderate to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Played with toys, Takes treats nicely, Stop and go, Calm, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, Needed treats to leash him. On leash, stop & go & all around legs, not used to it. In yard, ran & played with Ichabod. Gentle demeanor, noticed dog outside yard & interested with no change in demeanor. Short walk to work on leash manners, needs more. Easy to return. 6/23/2026 Timid but came forward to greet handler with soft neutral body, solicited attentions thru kennel door. Placing \"YELLOW\" based on intake notes and kennel presence. 6/21/2026 low stiff body, allowed leash, does not walk on leash, carried to truck kennel, placed in kennel without issue. 6/21/2026 Walked on leash, allowed all handling, laid down, soft body, went to kennel in bucket.
