John is an adoptable male Shepherd looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting John, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is John Wick. I am a male, tan and white Chow Chow mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 7 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 13, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHD14. Weight: 52 lbs Intake Date: 8/13/2026 John Wick was found after reportedly being abandoned when his owner moved out. ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: John Wick was noted to be sneezing and congested, consistent with suspected CIRD/URI. He was moved to treatment and started on Doxycycline 250 mg once daily for 10 days. He is heartworm negative and has received DA2PP, Bordetella and rabies vaccines, dewormer and Advantage Multi. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: John Wick is friendly and easy to leash, and he walks on a loose leash to the runs and back to his kennel. After returning from a walk, he was able to settle down and lie quietly. Unfortunately, prolonged shelter life is clearly wearing on him. Staff have documented him crying, heavily panting and pawing at his kennel door, and his kennel has been covered to help reduce his stress. This senior boy desperately needs somewhere quiet where he can finally decompress.
