Leon is an adoptable male Chihuahua looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is a young adult and small in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Leon, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Meet injured Leon ID #A2093236 Male | 2 years old | Chihuahua Mix | Blue Merle Weight: 9.8 lbs Intake date: 8/25/2026 Status: Rescue only (medical) ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Leon is completely non-weight-bearing on his left front leg. Staff noted muscle atrophy extending from his shoulder blade down the limb, and concerningly, he did not react when his paw was pinched, raising concern for a possible brachial plexus/neurological injury. X-rays on 8/26 revealed a short oblique fracture of the left distal radius. Veterinary staff recommend radiologist and orthopedic consultation. Because of the fracture and possible neurological damage, amputation of Leon's left front limb may ultimately be necessary. He is receiving Carprofen (' of a 75 mg tablet once daily for 10 days) for pain/inflammation. Leon is heartworm negative and received DA2PP, Bordetella, rabies vaccination, deworming and preventatives. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: No detailed behavior evaluations were provided.
