When Hooka first came to us, his name was simply \"Dog.\" That's all we knew. He arrived in October 2025 after being found tied up outside, with no microchip and no family coming to claim him. He was shy and unsure, but he quietly let our officer bring him to safety. Nearly a year later, we know so much more about the dog who was once just \"Dog.\" His name is Hooka. He's gentle. He's obedient. He's sweet. He loves pup cups, treats, being outside, and simply hanging out with whoever will hang out with him. He's done well in playgroups with multiple dogs here at the shelter, and he's shown us that he has the potential to have four-legged friends in a home, too. Hooka may still take a little time to warm up to new people. He tends to keep his distance at first, especially when he's unsure, but once he feels comfortable, you start to see the sweet, chill dog underneath. He's been waiting since October, and shelter life is starting to take a toll. Now all Hooka needs is a family who will finally choose him.
