Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Panchito. I am a male, black and brown American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 5 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 26, 2026. I am in kennel DD20. Weight: 54.2 lbs Intake date: 8/26/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Panchito arrived in severe condition with generalized hair loss, intense itching and crusting of his ears. A skin scrape confirmed sarcoptic mange (scabies). He received Advantage Multi to treat the scabies and is taking Cephalexin 750 mg twice daily for 14 days for his skin. 👁️ His left eye is cloudy, although he appears able to see and there was no redness or discharge. A private vet evaluation is recommended. He is HEARTWORM HIGH POSITIVE and has received DA2PP, Rabies, Bordetella, deworming and Pyrantel. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Despite everything Panchito is going through, his intake description says it beautifully: 'Very sweet.' Panchito has a wiggly or relaxed body, happy wagging tail and soft, smiling open mouth. He has been calm and quiet in his kennel and enters and exits without difficulty. Panchito is an enthusiastic walker who pulls strongly forward on leash and can become easily worked up, but there are no concerning handling behaviors noted in the information provided.
