Serena

Serena is an adoptable female Australian Kelpie looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. She is a young adult and medium in size. Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Serena. I am a spayed female, brown and white German Shepherd Dog mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 2 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 14, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHA02. Weight: 33.2 lbs Intake date: 8/14/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Serena is Heartworm NEGATIVE and her medical exams have been normal. She was spayed on 8/19 and received Carprofen following surgery. She has received DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies, deworming, Pyrantel and Advantage Multi and is microchipped. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Serena is 'very friendly and wiggly.' She greeted staff with a fast-wagging tail, was easy to leash, walked nicely on a loose leash and remained quiet in the runs. More recently, Serena has become a bit reactive when customers pass her kennel. Her kennel is now covered to reduce stimulation. Yet when the row is quiet, Serena settles and rests quietly on her bed. She also gently accepted a treat from staff despite appearing nervous.
