Cherry

Cherry is an adoptable female Rottweiler looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. She is fully grown and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Cherry, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

More Info: I have been at the shelter since Aug 21, 2026. I am in kennel SOUTHC31. Weight: 33'35 lbs Intake date: 8/21/2026 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Cherry is HEARTWORM HIGH POSITIVE. She received DA2PP, Bordetella and 1-year Rabies vaccines, deworming, Pyrantel and Advantage Multi. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Cherry is struggling a bit with the shelter environment. She can have a tense or neutral body, worried expression, low/semi-tucked tail and avoidance of the leash. She may dart away or freeze at unfamiliar sounds and doorways and has required extra help with leashing. Once leashed, however, Cherry has repeatedly walked on a loose leash to and from the runs and returns to her kennel easily. She is treat motivated, which has helped staff gain her cooperation. She has also approached staff while they clean her kennel to sniff them.
