In the care center has been observed pawing at his kennel door and licking/biting the kennel bars. During handling, Laces has shown sensitivity to head touch and may dodge the handler's hand, although he tolerates petting along his back and rear. Outside of the kennel, he generally presents with a loose body with familiar handler allowing petting, walks appropriately, checks in with the handler. Medically Laces has Mild-Moderate Dental Disease. Laces arrived at MACC as an owner surrender. His previous owner describes him as social and affectionate. His previous owner reports that he is on leash reactive and will hard bark, growl, lunge, and snap at people and small animals that approach. He is also noted to hard bark, growl, and lunge towards dogs. During intake, Laces was observed to bark and lunge towards handlers that approached. While in care, Laces has been observed to be fearful and is avoidant of handlers when they attempt to interact. Due to the detailed behavior, we recommend an experienced adult-only home that makes no trips to the dog park.
