Moka

Moka is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at NYC ACC-Queens in Ridgewood, New York. She is a young adult and medium in size. Moka was brought to the Care Centers following an altercation with the resident dog, which left multiple punctures on her face. In the Care Centers, Moka has displayed a high level of fear toward unfamiliar people. When approached by new staff, she was observed thrashing, low growling, and tucking her tail. Moka warmed up to select staff members, displaying a wiggly body and licking them, but continued to hard bark and back away when approached by unfamiliar staff. Medically, Moka has wounds and otitis externa. Moka came into the QUACC after being brought in as a stray. In the care centers, Moka has been very fearful and hesitant to leave her kennel, often remaining at the back on her bed and moving slowly when approached. She has required extended time and treats to approach staff and exit her kennel, but has gradually begun approaching and taking treats directly from handlers but still remains fearful with most staff in the care center allowing select handling. As a result, we recommend Moka is placed with one of our New Hope Partners.
