Oreo
Husky (mix breed)
Urgent: 2 Days Left
Scheduled: September 8, 2026
Reason: Medical
Oreo is an adoptable male Husky looking for a home at Dallas Animal Services in Dallas, Texas. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 2 days left, listed due to medical. Adopting Oreo, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.
Oreo is a male dog who is currently lame on his left hind limb (LH) due to an old injury consistent with an avulsion fracture. His ongoing lameness indicates that he will require further veterinary evaluation and continued orthopedic care to determine the best course of treatment and help improve his comfort and mobility. The specialized diagnostic, orthopedic, and rehabilitation care he may require exceeds what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite his condition, Oreo remains resilient and is doing his best while receiving supportive care. Oreo needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive prompt veterinary and orthopedic evaluation, appropriate treatment, and ongoing care for his old injury. With proper medical attention and rehabilitation, he may have an opportunity to improve his comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter. If you are interested in helping Oreo, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov with your contact information so we can call you back. Calm on my approach to his kennel. Eager to get outside and pulled hard on the leash. Once outside he pottied multiple times immediately. Had to cut his time short as yard was needed. Took him back. Spent time with him in kennel and he calmed down right away. Complete love bug who solicited pets and sat politely when waiting for them. Did solicit more pets by pawing at me when I stopped scratching him. Seems to know the sit command well and likes treats. Seemed like Togo, once he gets minimal exercise, calms down. Would seem to do best in a physically active household. 08/15/26 Easy Going Good on Leash 08/16/26 Easy Going Good Manners;Good on Leash Social (Dogs);Social (People);Loose/Wiggly Body Wants to Sniff 08/21/26 Easy Going Good on Leash;Good Manners;Pottied Immediately Social (People) Warms Up;Vocal;Wants to Sniff; Wants to Cuddle Oreo is such a gentle, easygoing boy. He pottied immediately once outside and walks very nicely on leash. He definitely has a love for cheese and isn't afraid to use his voice when he has something to say! Oreo appears tolerant of other dogs but prefers to keep to himself rather than engage. He'd be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet, independent pup with a little personality to share. 08/23/26 Medium Energy Good on Leash;Knows Sit;Pottied Immediately;Good Manners Social (People) Vocal;Wants to Sniff;Wants to Run Today, Oreo was a lot better with sitting on command. He is very much vocal when he wants pets and cheese!
