A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a male Malinois and tolerated him sniffing her. She was then approached by a female pitbull and displayed the same tolerant behavior. She began to calmly roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs trailing her to sniff her. She continued to tolerate dogs approaching her and sniffing her, but she did not retum the greetings. She remained calm and tolerant for the rest of her time in the yard, but she appeared more comfortable around the calmer dogs. There were dogs playing during her time in the yard, but she did not engage in or entice any play. She would approach the handlers when called and sought affection. Melly is tolerant of the other dogs and displayed no play style at this time. She would likely do best with a calmer dog.
