Ahandler stepped in to assist the runner with placing the collar around her neck. Once introduced to the yard, she calmly explored, keeping against a perimeter wall. A female pit bull approached playfully. Lucy tolerated her sniffing her body but avoided any direct nose-to-nose greetings. She tolerated a few other dogs coming up to sniff her body but chose not to tum and interact with them. She spent the next few minutes calmly explong, continuing to tolerate the other dogs coming up to greet her. She would not approach the handlers and kept her distance despite coaxing. A young, male Malinois enticed her for play on a few occasions, but she declined each attempt. He even pawed at her side and attempted to jump over her, he missed and landed squarely on her head and body. She did not react to the contact. She continued calmly explong and avoiding nose-to-nose greetings. A calm female Pyrenees came up to greet her. Lucy tolerated her body being sniffed but as the Pyrenees lingered near her face, Lucy froze and lip curled. The handlers separated the two without incident. Lucy kept to herself for the rest of her time in the yard. She has a history in the previous home of snapping at children without making contact. She needs a go-slow approach and further socialization. She tolerated the handler looking in her ears and viewing her teeth while remaining tense. The handler rubbed her head and back briefly and she appeared to relax slightly. As soon as the handler touched her tail, she flinched and took several steps away from the handler. She was also not comfortable with her rear legs being touched, displaying the same behavior, creating space. She needs further socialization and trust building. She was taken back to her kennel she remained wary but was ok with slow movements and light coaxing. She needs a go-slow approach.
