Recommendations FAMILY INTRODUCTION IN HOME TRAINING OLDER CHILDREN EXPERIENCED HANDLER Memo 9/8/2026 09/08/26 15:22 This dog is experiencing significant stress and anxiety in the shelter, particularly while kenneled. These behaviors are often a response to the overwhelming sights, sounds, and confinement, along with the lack of choice or control over their environment. Although this dog continues to show appropriate behavior outside of the kennel with positive interactions with staff and volunteers, without intervention, well-being will continue to decline. Immediate placement is needed with an experienced adopter or New Hope Partner who can provide time and space to decompress in a calm, supportive home. Placement needed by close of business 9/13/26. May be at risk of euthanasia 9/14/26 or sooner if warranted. Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 9/8/2026 Soft and wiggly, high energy, easy leashing, mouthy, allowed all handling and vaccine booster with muzzle wrap restraint, coaxed back in to kennel with slight leash pressure, easy leash removal. 9/3/2026 Greeted handler at front of kennel with high energy jumping on kennel door, wiggly soft body, demand barking. Jumping on kennel door when leash was presented, some pawing towards handlers arm when reaching in to leash but settled enough to easily place leash. Exited with strong pull, some zig zag walking pattern to \"J\" but maintianed soft body and wagging tail throughout. In yard dog would begin to solicit attentions with handler immediately allowing petting all over, stayed close to handler all of evaluation. Jumps up onto handler when handler sits down, rests front paws on handlers lap and accepted pets all over, no issues directing dog off. Explored with loose tail wag and soft body, not interested in treats offered or tossed near. Some play bows and playful energy towards handler. Came to handler when called over to leave, walked back to kennel with no issues, some barking/stiff body towards neighboring dogs but settled quickly. Entered kennel on own but did attempt to push thru door as door was being closed, able to remove leash by hand with no issues. Interested parties should have tall (8 ft+) and secure fencing and be counseled to keep dog on leash while outside and other ways to manage escape attempts, such as a covered yard. 9/2/2026 Closed outside for AM cleaning. Dog was demand barking as handler walked up to kennel, settled with ears pinned, soft body and wagging tail, front paws on door soliciting attention, took treats but didn't eat. Jumping against door while placing leash, walked with moderate pull to yard, ignored kenneled dogs, jumped up on handler when startled by reactive dog, remained soft with wagging tail, allowed pets, continued walking, took to high fenced yard. Affiliative with handler, climbed on lap, leaned in and allowed petting all over, began panting heavily, ears pinned, soft with wagging tail, paced around yard, began whining, returned to handler frequently and climbed back on lap soliciting more attention, still not interested in treats. Walked with moderate pull back to kennel, occasionally jumped up on handler with soft body and wagging tail, pulled hard once towards reactive dog, used moderate leash pressure to redirect away and continue walking, while waiting for another dog to pass by dog jumped up on handler again, grabbed leash briefly as handler redirected off, stopped and growled at neighboring dogs but followed handler with verbal coaxing, easy return, front paws on door as handler removed leash by hand. 8/31/2026 Day 1: K9 did not eat kibble offered 8/30 8/29/2026 Needs full evaluation per History Review. 8/25/2026 ASO watched dog clear a 6 ft brick wall//please recommend high fencing if dog is to be adopted out// High energy, solicited attention, understood sit command but didn't stay long, mouthy, vocal, zig zag and erratic on leash, jumpy, heavy panting, lifted into truck kennel with no restraint 8/25/2026 walks on leash, jumpy with handler, allows all handling and petting, takes treats gently, slight pulling with leash, mild restraint for vaccines - muzzle wrap, solicits attention Name: Marie Claire Animal ID: A5170540 Breed: BROWN/BLACK BELG MALINOIS Sex: Female Age: 0Y 8M Weight: 51.2 lbs Kennel: West Kennel, Wing G - 229 Intake Date: 8/25/2026 Deadline Date: 9/13/2026
