Placement with a New Hope Partner is required by close of business 9/14/26 to allow for behavioral support and assessment in a different setting. May be at risk for euthanasia 9/15/26 or sooner if warranted. Intake 9/4/2026 How long have you had the animal? 2 WEEKS. SOURCE HAS POSTED AND TRIED TO LOCATE AN OWNER BUT DID NOT HAVE ANY SUCCESS. What are the cross streets where you found the animal? Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 9/9/2026 Handler approached kennel front; Dog was alarm barking; spinning; high arousal; tense; Dilated eyed at front; Handler spoke softly and tossed in treats; dog wasn't interested in treats; remained at kennel front; barking; no settle; Handler went to unlock door and dog retreats to back; Handler hid around corner and dog didn't come forward; Handler closed guillotine and re approached back; Dog was standing on front twos on door before handler approached; Handler unlocked door and dog stopped; retreats to corner and sits with back against wall near guillotine; Handler had to lean in and attempt to place leash over head; Dog was head dodgy and duck; Handler attempted to make a larger loop and was able to place leash on 3rd try; Dog walked out with strong pull ; ignored dogs in passing; walked to yard; immediately entered with no issues; shortly later urinating; after she was done she walked yard briefly and came and sat with handler; solicited pets and attention; if handler stopped petting dog would nudge handlers hand for more pets; if handler attempted to pet on back end or try and move dog over slightly dog was timid and would retreat away slightly; handler gave space and dog would shortly later come back and solicit pets and attention; timid; soft stare; leaned into petting; dog was more relaxed and calm demeanor in yard; if handler stood up dog would follow; tried toys and dog wasn't interested; dog remained sitting with handler for remainder of time; When time to go handler grabbed leash and dog walked to catch pin; allowed leash adjustment; strong pull to kennel; entered kennel with ease; unleashed by hand; paced kennel front again; anxious; moderate pant from front to back; attention whined as handler descended away from kennel . 9/8/2026 Dog was bounding off of walls when approached; foamy drool at corners of mouth; rhythmic barking. Handler would toss treats in quick intervals to keep dog engaged in \"find it\" with treats before dog could begin barking again. After a minute dog would be slightly lower aroused; heavy panting; occasional barking at front as handler prepared leash; had door cracked slightly and placed treats on floor to lure dog's head into leash; dog would place head in leash but quickly back out; paced back and forth a few times; panting; eventually lured head through leash at front and was able to secure; strong pull out of kennel; erratic on leash; heavy panting. Once in yard, dog would immediately solicit attention from handlers; allowed petting all over; ran excitedly to bench where handler sat; urinated; defecated. Dog was not interested in toys; whining; panting. Dog would spend outing sitting pressed up against handlers; soliciting petting and attention. Very affiliative. When time to go dog pulled strongly to exit gate; strong pull back to kennel; allowed clip leash to be attached; sniffed dog in passing with strong pull; entered kennel willingly; removed leash with clip leash. 9/7/2026 Handlers approached kennel front, dog was charging at gate with fully dilated pupils, full pilo and showing teeth between alarm barking. Dog began retreating to the back kennel only to charge front gate again. Handler was able to lower guillotine while dog was in back and reapproached. Handler spent 5 minutes settling dog in order to leash. Handler would scatter treats in kennel and dog would chase after, initially dog continued to charge back gate and snap towards handler while alarm barking. With time dog settled , still tense in posture and rounded but coming forward and discontinued snapping. Handler was able to drape leash over head and secure. Handler then guided dog out to PY, dog walked erratically with rounded posture and tucked back end. Dog defecated on path to PY. Once in PY handler attached leash extension and adjusted leash stopper. Assistant handler sat on bench and dog approached, dog was hesitant initially and then began soliciting pets. Dog wandered off briefly and lead handler released leash and sat down next to assistant handler. For the next 5-10 minutes dog switched between handlers soliciting pets and displaying submissive behaviors. Dog would rub hind hip on handlers legs and allowed all petting. Handlers slowly escalated pets into heavy petting and dog showed no issue. Handlers were able to initiate brief play with dog and fed dog treats by hand. For return handler placed clip leash and walked dog back to kennel. Dog walked with moderate pull and ignored occupied kennels in passing. Dog entered kennel without issue and allowed leash removal using clip leash. Handler returned to front kennel and removed leash. Dog greeted at gate with loose posture. Handler left behind some treats and left dog. 9/6/2026 Immediate alarm barking once in dog's sight. Tense, rounded posture, charge gate and then retreated to back kennel. Dog continued to charge and retreat several times, would not settle. Began urinating while alarm barking. Requesting full evaluation 9/4/2026 Handler (male) approached in lobby she gave a small nervous growl but did allow leashing and walked to triage. Immediately came to sit by female in triage room. Dog continued to try to avoid male and sit by female. Allowed female handler to apply muzzle and vaccinate with light restraint. Flighty and nervous in room but seeks comfort and allows all petting from female handler.
