About Theodore

Theodore is an adoptable male American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is fully grown and medium in size. He is listed on the shelter's euthanasia list, listed due to lack of space, and that date has now passed. Shelters often move these dates, so Theodore may still be waiting. The shelter can confirm.

Theodore'ACCT A-247479'is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to'length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs.'Theodore'must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or'RESCUE PARTNER'by'SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH'at'10AM. Should Theodore's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Theodore is large bundle of energy who initially came to ACCT in April as a stray, and he was adopted shortly after. Unfortunately, Theodore's new owner contacted us about surrendering him after an incident with their young child. However, the information provided did not clearly explain what happened. What we can gather is that Theodore reacted to an adult and child play-fighting in the home by growling, and then, after being told \"no,\" he nipped first at the adult, then at the child. Theodore's owner stated this was him being overprotective of the child, but it also speaks to how Theodore processes and reacts to unfamiliar, or stressful situations.' While Theodore's owner did not surrender at this time, and decided to look into rehoming options, Theodore was later picked up on a solo adventure by two members of the public.' Theodore is a fan-favorite at the shelter. His affectionate, playful nature has made him a great fit for both those who can manage some moderate pulling, and those who prefer to sit back, play fetch and watch Theodore romp around. We think Theodore would be a great addition to an adult-only household where he can be the center of attention, and where he can enjoy'all the good things in life'snuggles, treats, playtime, and especially a good game of fetch! He's had a good dog meet here at the shelter, and we're continuing to see more and more of his adorable personality come out each day. Video Meet Theodore: Playgroup 8/26 -'Comet, Finnigan Flan, Westbrook, Theodore Theodore knows sit and shake/paw Theodore & Ada Meet Theodore! Playful Theodore! Behavior Notes 8/26 per Volunteer \"Theodore is a big, adorable, goofy man with a giant head, the cutest scrunched-up nose, and gorgeous chestnut coloring.'This good boy is house trained, knows 'sit,' and loves toys. He was happy to play and carry his toys around, and his goofy personality made him so much fun to spend time with. Theodore was also easy to walk on leash and didn't react when other dogs passed by'or even when they barked at him. Overall, Theodore is just a big, lovable goofball who seems like he'd be an easy companion to have around. Between his good manners, love of toys, and ridiculously adorable face, he has a whole lot going for him. If you're looking for a sweet, playful boy with a big personality and an even bigger head, Theodore might be your guy!\" 8/26 Playgroup Good gate greetings. He was such a joy, for me, and for everyone that met him he is amazing at playing fetch and honestly seemed like he could do that all day. He knew to drop the ball, how to sit.\" 4/14 per Staff \"Took Theodore out for dog meet, walked up to the front of the kennel then backed up a bit when I went to put leash over head, moved slowly and once leash was on, he walked out with me but was a little hesitant. When I opened door to outside he flinched and moved backwards a bit, but then walked forward. Once outside he shook off and had loose body language. After the meet I pet him a bit, and he would wiggle his body and lean into me for more. I saw more of his goofy personality after the dog meet.
