This enthusiastic gentleman was picked up by our officers as a stray on August 16th and was eager to make friends from the moment he arrived, approaching staff with a full-body wag and even trying to climb into the truck. Since then, he has continued to show that he is a happy, people-loving dog who enjoys treats, walks, attention, and plenty of opportunities to explore. In his kennel, Big Meech is often waiting at the front with soft eyes, relaxed body language, and a happy tail, and he has been easy to leash on multiple outings. He loves treats, enjoys stopping to sniff and explore, and has shown a particular fondness for tug of war and butt scratches. He can be high energy and strong on leash, with some jumpiness and occasional difficulty getting in and out of his kennel, but he has also been described as a very good, sweet boy. Big Meech has shown interest in other dogs and has had some appropriate interactions, though he can also be forward and needs continued guidance during dog introductions. Big Meech is an affectionate, energetic guy who would love a person ready to give him plenty of attention, enrichment, walks, and positive outlets for his energy. Due to his length of stay, Big Meech is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. Per staff re: playgroup 8/29: Exchanged a bit forward, inquisitive, but generally appropriate greetings with LayLay and Oreo Blizzard. Became persistently mounty toward Oreo Blizzard and needed to be steered off by staff. Shortly removed after. Per volunteer 8/28: Slight issues getting out of kennel, walking through kennels, returning to kennel, and with jumpiness. Likes treats. Pees a lot. Okay with pets but more interested in walking around. Per staff 8/18: At the front of his kennel, loose body, soft eyes, ears to the side. Tossed in treats to move him back and was easily leashed when he came back to the front. Walked pulling moderately on leash, stopping frequently to sniff and pee. Allowed all handing with a loose body, ears back, soft eyes, low tail wags. Walking back pulled moderately with the same body language as walking out. Hopped right into kennel and leash was removed easily. Per staff 8/18: Big Meech and Goldie: Stiff greetings. Tolerant. Corrective. Moves Away Per staff 8/18: Kennel Presentation: At the front the kennel with soft eyes, ears to the side and mid tail going in a full circle. Leash Skills: Tossed a treat to the back so I could open the door. Easy to leash and came right out of kennel. Pull mildly on leash. Sociability: Tolerant of pets and the jumped up on me when I stopped. Was bringing out for playgroup so did not do much handling. Dog Interaction: At fence greeting with Bando his body stiffened hackles raised and low growled. Did not bring into playgroup. Return to Kennel: Went right into kennel and was able to remove leash with hand. Per staff 8/18: Did not make it into playgroup, at the fence, hackles raised, ears back, tense body, low growling. Per staff 8/18: Came up to me before I could get out of truck and jumped into my lap with full body wag and ears back. Tried to climb into truck. Allowed leash and jumped right into back of van. Vocal on ride back to shelter.
