Sir Ace Junior is highly dog-reactive in the Care Centers. While on walks, he has been observed lunging, screeching, vocalizing loudly, and hard-staring at other dogs. In the behavior room, Sir Ace Junior presents as highly anxious, displaying panting, pacing, and dilated pupils. His previous owner reported that he would lunge at other dogs while on walks. She described him as social with children and shy around strangers, but noted that he will warm up with time. Medically, Sir Ace Junior is being treated for CIRDC. Sir Ace Junior was described by previous owners as a dog with a lot of energy who enjoys long walks and lots of quality time. Sir Ace Junior is also noted by the previous owner to pull hard on the leash, and he can get aroused easily and takes a while to settle down. During his stay in the care center, Sir Ace Junior was observed to hard bark and loudly screech throughout the entire intake. He was noted to be lunging and unable to be redirected by his owner or staff. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and reevaluate his behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
