Alpha is an adoptable male German Shepherd looking for a home at Los Angeles County - Baldwin Park in Baldwin Park, California. He is fully grown and medium in size. A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.'Alpha was on his bed with a slightly tense demeanor but quickly softened when the runner presented the leash. He was easy to leash/remove from the kennel and was taken to the catch pen. Once in the catch pen Alpha was easy to collar/leash. Alpha greeted the dogs at the barrier nicely and was allowed into the play yard. Alpha displayed a slightly tense body, closed mouth, natural ear set, and soft eyes. He appeared slightly tense uncomfortable with face-to-face greetings. He moved on and explored sniffing/marking various locations. As he explored Alpha appeared more at ease with interacting with other dogs. Alpha was given play bows and after some coaxing, he joined the group of playful dogs. Alpha participated in play chase and playful wrestling. While playing Alpha becomes vocal growling/barking but his play remained appropriate. Alpha also found a dog that engaged in rough house play with him. He continued to be vocal while playing but he played appropriately. Alpha continued to play for the majority of the play session. Alpha took breaks to seek engagement from the handlers Alpha maintained a social and playful demeanor displaying a rough/rowdy play style. Alpha is ok for public adoption high energy level large dogs ok.
