Diesel A5800835 (Altered) approached to lick the runner's hand through the barrier upon arrival. He was easily leashed and exited the kennel on his own. However, Diesel jumped excitedly and gripped the leash in his mouth as if it were a toy. He briefly released it following a verbal correction but soon grabbed it again. Diesel was led to the catch pen while carrying part of the leash in his mouth. Once inside the catch pen, he received a collar and leash, requiring firm leash control as he paced energetically. Diesel was then allowed into the yard, where he initially appeared wary of the other dogs but quickly warmed up. He wasted no time and joined one of the active dogs, engaging in rough play. He occasionally took breaks to solicit affection from the handlers. For the remainder of the session, Diesel continued to socialize with his playmate, maintaining a relaxed posture throughout the interactions. Once the session concluded, he showed improved leash manners following a firm correction and walked calmly with the handler. An experienced owner is highly recommended to patiently work with Diesel and help him improve his leash reactivity/arousal.
