A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.\" She was easily collared by the runner in the catch pen. She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by a female Pitbull that lingered near her face, she had a tucked tail and gave a light air snap waming for space. She respected this waming and walked away. She then began to roam the yard and explore. She began to approach and smff the calm dogs. She remained wary of the higher energy dogs or dogs lingering in her face, giving lip curl wamings or an air snap. She continued to gravitate and be more comfortable around the very calm dogs. When the handler would kneel and call to her, she would approach willingly and seek affection. She would do best with a very calm dog that will respect her space and boundanes. The handler knelt and called to her. She approached with soft body language and allowed the handler to pet her. She then leaned against the handler seeking more affection. She allowed the handler to check her teeth with no reaction. She allowed the handler to check her ears with no reaction. She allowed the handler to touch her tail with no reaction. When the handler touched her back paws, she pulled them away. When the handler touched and lifted her front paws, she had concemed eyes and licking her lips. She displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler, but she does best with a slower approach. Due to her need for a slower approach and some mild handling sensitivities, she would likely do best in an adult only home or with older respectful kids.
