A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from howthey behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behaviormay change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences." She required a go-slow approach when being collared by the runner in the catch pen She entered the play yard with soft body language. She was approached by two dogs at the same time and exchanged soft greetings with them both. After the dogs broke away, she began to roam the yard and explore. She was tolerant of dogs tralling her to sniff her. She spent some time marking the yard and kicking her paws. After a while, she began to approach other dogs and exchange soft greetings with them. She approached a male shepherd and offered him a play bow. He retumed the play bow, and they engaged in some gentle/dainty play. She remained playful and social for the rest of her time in the yard. She does like to push dogs with her front paws during her play. She began to approach one of the handlers in the yard to seek affection, but she required a go-slow approach. She is social with the other dogs and prefers a gentle/dainty play style. She was given a moment to acclimate to her surroundings. The handler knelt and called to her. She approached the handler slowly with soft body language and began to seek affection. She allowed the handler to pet her head and to check her ears, but she required a go-slow approach. She appeared wary when the handler would try to approach to touch her rear paws or tail. She would back away with concemed eyes, licking her lips and preferred to remain facing the handler. She was retumed to her kennel without issue. She displayed no negative or conceming behavior toward the handler during the handling, but she does require a go-slow approach. Due to her handling sensitivity and need for a go-slow approach, she would do best in an adult only home.
