More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 14, 2026. I am in kennel DC25. Rescue only (medical)🆘️ 🐾 Meet Butter ID #A2096081 Female | 6 years | English Bulldog Mix | Brindle/White Weight: 34 lbs Intake: 9/14/26 Status: Rescue only (medical) Butter was left outside a veterinary office inside a kennel before arriving at BARC. ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Butter tested LOW POSITIVE for heartworms. She has also had significant bleeding from a swollen/enlarged vulva, with dark blood and substantial spotting in her kennel. Staff noted the bleeding appeared excessive for simply being in heat, although heat could be contributing. She is receiving Clavamox 250 mg BID x7 days and needs veterinary follow-up to determine the cause. Butter also developed soft stool with some blood. Her fecal test was negative, and she was prescribed Proviable BID x5 days. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Butter was timid at intake and appears very stressed. She has alarm/forward barked and initially growled during approaches and leashing, particularly while her kennel was covered in blood. Despite her fear, she allows staff to leash her and walks outside, although tightly on leash. In the runs, she settled enough to quietly sniff other dogs through the fence. Her behavior should be considered alongside her medical discomfort and shelter stress.
