Sheila is an adoptable female German Shepherd looking for a home at Los Angeles County - Downey in Downey, California. She is a young adult and large in size. On 8/18/26, RP went to leash A5796745 after finding it as a stray. While doing so, the RP was bitten on the left hand and then she took the dog home. RP's husband wanted to keep the dog however, on August 22,2026 RP's husband went to move the dogs' food bowl and startled the dog. A5796745 nipped the husband's ankles and left a scratch. NFD. She chased the dogs and ran around with them. She solicited affection from the handler. Overall, Sheila was social with the dogs and would benefit best in a push/pull yard. Sheila A5796745 was at the back of the kennel when the runner approached her, she wouldn't approach her, her eyes were wide, her mouth was closed, her tail was tucked and her body was low. The runner opened the kennel door and began gently tossing the leash, she dodged it and was avoidant. Once the runner was able to leash her, she walked nervously through the kennels. In the catch pen when she was introduced to the dogs her body was relaxed, her eyes were soft, her tail wagged neutrally and her ears were alert. She was easy to collar and leash. She entered the yard and began running around excitedly with the dogs. She engaged in play, her body was relaxed, her eyes were soft, her tail wagged neutrally and her mouth was open with a soft pant. She was pushy with the dogs (wanting to play). She chased the dogs and ran around with them. She solicited affection from the handler. Overall, Sheila was social with the dogs and would benefit best in a push/pull yard. The handler used both hands to toss the leash, Sheila got startled and gently snapped at the leash. The handler was able to safely leash her after some attempts. She walked out of the kennel on her own and required gentle leash guidance and coaxing to walk. She was easy to be collared and leashed. She was placed on the side yard. The handler entered the yard after a few minutes (gave her time to decompress). She sat next to her, Sheila slowly approached her to sniff her. The handler began to gently pet her head. The longer the handler was out in the yard with Sheila the more Sheila relaxed. She allowed the handler to pet her everywhere. She displayed no aggression. Overall, Sheila was tolerant of being pet. Sheila A5796745 was given a toy, she was interested, she gently bit the leash as the handler waved it around in the air. Her body was relaxed, her eyes were soft and her tail wagged neutrally. The handler was able to retrieve the toy away from Sheila. Sheila appeared more interested in the toy when the handler picked it up and waved it around. She remained friendly. The handler then presented her the food bowl, Sheila got excited, the handler placed it on the ground and Sheila began to eat. The handler placed the assessment hand near the food bowl, Sheila got scared and took a few steps back. She came back to the food bowl when the handler moved the assessment hand away. The handler then gently pet Sheila with the assessment hand, Sheila moved her head away from the assessment hand. She ate the food but was slightly uncomfortable (displayed no aggression).
