Misty

Misty is an adoptable female Great Pyrenees looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. She is still very young and large in size. Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Misty. I am a female, white Great Pyrenees mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 5 months old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 16, 2026. I am in kennel DB40. ID #A2096586 5-month-old puppy ' Female Great Pyrenees mix White ' DOB: 4/16/2026 Weight: 30 lbs Intake date: 9/16/2026 Status: Foster/Rescue only At only 5 months old, Misty was found with an elastic band embedded so deeply around her paw that her skin had begun healing over it. Somehow this puppy endured that pain while surviving as a stray. ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: ' Arrived with a significant wound and swelling of her left front paw ' During examination, vets discovered a black elastic hair band embedded around her paw'the wound had actually begun healing over it ' The hair band was completely removed and the wound was flushed and cleaned ' By 9/17, the wound was described as nice and pink and beginning to fill in ' On 9/18, her paw remained swollen and warm, although a later exam noted the swelling appeared improved ' Carprofen 25 mg twice daily ' 14 days ' Clavamox 250 mg twice daily ' 14 days ' Gabapentin also administered ' Vaccinated and dewormed ⸻ 🐾 BEHAVIOR: There are very limited behavior notes for Misty. When she was found injured as a stray, she was described as appearing timid when approached. She needs a calm place where she can recover physically and begin feeling safe. Volunteer Notes: What an absolutely sweet girl Misty is. She is adorable as well. She's so fluffy and I'm sure with a good bath and a brushing her fur would be so pretty. She was quiet in her kennel when I saw her. She did have a cone on I only took the cone off just to take some pictures and then staff helped me to put it back on. I believe the cone was placed so that she didn't do anything worse to her paw. When she walked, she did not bear any weight on that paw. She does limp however it looks like an old injury and it doesn't seem to bother her at all. She doesn't drag it on the ground or anything like that. She does pick it up off the ground, but like I said she does not bear weight on it. She's friendly. She was friendly with the other dog in the run next to us however I believe I forgot to get the video of that. She is only five months old though. I did check with staff before I brought her outside just to ensure that she was OK to come out. She really seemed to enjoy being outside as well, so I let her soak up some sunshine before going back into her kennel. 🔹Intake: 1 injured medium white stray dog/ state right paw injured.
