Memo 9/17/2026 09/17/26 16:52 Canine has shown resistance to returning to the kennel and associated concerning behaviors. Canine also has history of elevated dog reactivity in shelter and in previous environments that may reoccur in future placements. Placement with a New Hope Partner is required by close of business 9/22/23 to prevent further decline and allow for behavior evaluation in a new environment. May be at risk for euthanasia 9/23/26 or sooner if warranted. Intake 9/6/2026 How long have you had the animal? 4 HOURS. FINDER SAW THIS PET WANDERING IN A PARKING LOT NEAR THEIR WORKPLACE. THE DOG ACTUALLY JUMPED UP ON THE DRIVE-THRU WINDOW AND GREETED EVERYONE WITH A BIG SMILE AND WAGGING TAIL. What are the cross streets where you found the animal? 7TH AVE AND SOUTHERN AVE Is this animal currently showing any signs of illness, taking any medication, or has the animal been diagnosed with a medical or behavioral condition? FINDER STATED THAT THEY THOUGH THE VAGINAL AREA OF THIS PET LOOKS ODD AND SHOULD BE LOOKED AT. Is animal spayed/neutered? YES Has the animal bitten anyone? If yes, please explain? NO Any near bites (contact but did not break skin)? If yes, please explain? NO Has the animal shown any signs of aggression toward people or animals? YES Has the animal ever seriously injured or caused the death of another animal? NO Was this animal around any children? NO Did the animal interact with other animals? YES Cats? NO Dogs? FINDER TO THIS PET TO A VET AND THE DOG WAS BARKING AT ANOTHER DOG AND WAS THE INSTIGATOR. FINDER IS NOT SURE, BUT THINKS THIS DOG MAY NOT LIKE OTHER DOGS. UNKNOWN Any Additional details/notes on behavior? 4/26/2026 How long have you had the animal? 1 DAY. DOG WANDERED INTO SOURCES FRONT YARD. Has the animal been around other animals? What kind of animals? How would you describe the interaction with other animals? GROWLED, BARED TEETH, AND CHARGED SMALL DOGS IN HOME. Was the animal around any other people or children? If yes, how would you describe the animals behavior towards other people/children? NO CONTACT WITH CHILDREN. Has the animal shown any aggression around other people? Might want to include a few examples of what aggression looks like. Barking, growling, lunging, etc.? If yes, what were the circumstances? GROWLED WHEN BEING PICKED UP TO BE PUT INTO TRUCK. Did you keep the animal inside or outside? INSIDE If inside, did you keep the animal in a crate or allowed to roam? Was the animal destructive in any way? CRATED. NO DESTRUCTION. If outside, what kind of fencing do you have and did it contain the animal? BLOCK WALL, GATE. Did the animal show any aggression, like **growling, curling their lips, lunging** around food, toys, or bones? NO AGGRESSION. Has the animal shown any signs of illness? NO SIGNS OF ILLNESS. Does the animal walk on a leash? PULLS HARD ON LEASH AND IN ALL DIRECTIONS. Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 9/15/2026 Handler approached kennel front; Dog was standing at front with ears alert; mild pant; tail wagging; ready to come out of kennel; sat; Handler unlocked door and held leash in opening; Strong pull to exit; showed some interest in passing but disengaged on own; Walked right into yard; Once in yard dog was exploring yard; Solicited pets and attention with and without coaxing; high energy; jumpy in yard; settles with gentle petting; mild pant entire evaluation; engaged in fetch; would transition back and forth with 2 balls; sat for treats; took gently; leaned into petting; rubbed under handlers legs; loose bodied and tail wagging as she explored yard; dog stood near catch pen; assuming ready to go back; handler stood up, walked over and dog entered catch pen; Allowed leash grab and adjustment; handler clipped on clip lead; handler walked over to back of kennel; dog needed to go outside for AM cleaning; Dog began to thrashing; vocalize; low growl; barking; pulling away from kennel; handler tried verbally coaxing and treat trail with no luck; handler stepped into kennel and dog refused to followed; handler walked away from kennel with dog and circled back; dog refused again to go in; handler had to use moderate leash pressure into kennel once close enough; held leash outward to keep dog in kennel; handler was able to close door; and unleashed by clip lead; 9/14/2026 Dog was at front of kennel with loose posture, broadly wagging tail, slightly pushy at front as handler reached in leash, jumping up at door, handler able to place leash, dog exited kennel quickly, ignored other dogs in passing but had slight pilo erection and tail raised, strong pull to yard, once in yard dog wandered and sniffed, stopping to urinate, approached handler when called and solicited attention with soft body, relaxed face, leaning into handler and jumping up with front paws in their lap, would spend a minute getting pets before getting zoomies and darting away, resumed exploring yard. Dog would run up to handler whenever called, seeking attention and allowing all handling, soft and affiliative, played fetch, resumed exploring, remained neutral. Followed handler to catch pen, pawing at gate as they picked up leash, strong pull back to kennel, but once in front of kennel dog stopped pulling back on leash, handler tried light leash pressure and tossed treats, dog continued to pull back, putting front paws over leash , handler walked dog to outside portion of kennel instead, dog continued to pull away, handler continued to try different approaches, using momentum, leash pressure, treats, etc. and dog refused to enter, handler eventually picked up dog and placed in kennel, dog darted back out, handler picked up again, holding short leash and blocking dog with body as they closed the door, removed leash by hand. 9/11/2026 Requesting full eval due to history and date of last eval. 9/6/2026 Soft body, allowed all handling and solicits attention. Sat on command, walked to kennel, fence fight attempts and hard pull. Very interested in all dogs in the area, was able to get k9 into kennel easily and unleashed by hand. 6/9/2026 Solicited attentions, Playful, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Played with toys, Takes treats nicely, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Calm, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, Sit, Somewhat pulls on leash but easily managed. Rolled on back for belly rubs. Interested to play with dog in next play yard, w/ relaxed body and tail. Loved to play with the tennis ball. 6/2/2026 Solicited attentions, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Not interested in toys, Takes treats nicely, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Calm, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, Babs would sit on her own - waiting for the gate to open, but would not sit on command. Very affectionate. 5/24/2026 Solicited attentions, Playful, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Takes treats nicely, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Fence fight attempt, Sit, still in a cone and runs in into your legs so she can solicit attention and get close to you. very affiliative, pulled towards kennels of barking dogs on return but easily managed 5/18/2026 Dog didn't eat food 5/17/2026 Solicited attentions, Playful, Easy to pull from kennel, Moderate to return to kennel, Played with toys, Takes treats nicely, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Ignored dogs when walking past kennels, Sit, wearing a cone, runs up to you to try to snuggle despite the cone. runs over full speed, flops over last minute for belly rubs, very affectionate and social, leans in, paws on lap to be close, fetches and plays with toys. 5/10/2026 dog didnt eat 5/9/2026 Solicited attentions, Playful, Easy to pull from kennel, Easy to return to kennel, Played with toys, Takes treats nicely, Somewhat Pulls on Leash, Strong Pull on Leash, High Energy, Fence fight attempt, Appears to love to get belly rubs and came up to me a lot for pets. 5/7/2026 Dog only ate wet food. 5/5/2026 dog didnt eat 5/5/2026 Babs stayed on opposing side upon kennel approach but came up when I knelt on ground; became very soft and wiggly when kennel door began to open; did not react to other dogs during walk to play yard; not treat motivated; refused hot dogs; played with tennis ball in yard; explored the entire yard but kept close to me and jumped up for pets; very difficult to place back in kennel; refused to enter kennel and treats did not motivate 5/4/2026 Dog did not eat 4/29/2026 At front of kennel with neutral body, not interested in treats but would inch closer to handler with baby talk, would lean up against door with soft body, startled by reactive neighboring dogs but soliciting attentions with handler. Allowed for easy leash placement at front of kennel, easy leash pull to lower play yard, some stop n go, no reactivity to dogs in passing, soft, neutral body with wagging tail all the way to yard. In yard dog immediately jumped up onto handler when entering catch pen to enter yard, wagging tail, soft eyes, allowed petting all over, let handler place leash stopper with no issues. Dog would follow handler closely to where handler sat on chair, gently jumped up onto handler soliciting attentions allowing petting all over, not interested in treats offered, soft eyes, soft body, leans in for pets. Will explore independently briefly but will return to handler for attentions. Followed handler closely around yard, not interested in activities outside of yard. Followed handler to exit, accepted pets as handler picked up leash. Some pulling back to kennel but dog settles on leash when leash pressure is felt, interested in members of the public in passing with wiggly body and wagging tail. Walked to kennel with no issues, no reactivity to dogs in passing. Walked into kennel on own, did start to jump on kennel door as handler was reaching for leash but appeared more focus on getting attentions than pushing out of kennel. Allowed handler to remove leash by hand. 4/28/2026 Requesting a full evaluation based on intake notes. 4/26/2026 Easy leashing, walking into Triage. Tolerated restraint for vaccines and allowed all petting.
