Gina is an adoptable female Shepherd looking for a home at San Bernardino County - Devore Shelter in San Bernadino, California. She is a young adult and medium in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Gina, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

Description: I am a black, spayed female, who looks like a Shepherd mix. Age: I am estimated to be 2 years and 1 month old. More Info: I am in kennel D 36. I have been at the shelter since Aug 16, 2026. I was found near Shelter Way in Devore. Additional Pet Info : 8/26/26 - Dog panics when leashed and attempting to handle, dog initially was solicitous and approached, after leashing dog quicking became increasingly anxious to leave kennel within seconds of attempts to gently pet dog scream/yelped and air snapped and ran to other side of kennel flailing at end of leash, dog then recovered and came back. Decided to offer treats again this time dog refused. When trying for leash dog again screamed as if in pain (had yet to touch dog) and air snapped towards hand. 08/28/26 17:19 Dog could potentially be placed after some training and desensitizing to handling but intial fear of handling still remains creating unpredicatble reactions. Will continue to monitor. Still recommend rescue intervention for placement with experienced handlers to address behavioral concerns. 8/29/26 Dog has improved and is allowing handling, dog still has some fearful reactions to handling whinning and flinching but no aggression has been observed even towards new unknown staff, dog also does well with other dogs, is social and appropriately plays. No aggression observed, will continue to monitor. 09/19/26 17:49 Dog is still fearful, able to handle but still has moments of vocal panic and avoidance. Dog does okay in yard mildly social with other dogs occassionally seeks attention from handlers has been able to be paired multiple times. Recommend urgent placement with rescue or fosters to work on touch sensitivities and fearful behavior as over crowded shelter is not improving behavior. No aggression observed. LOS 35+ Days. Shelter OVER capacity.
