Wally is an adoptable male Belgian Shepherd Malinois looking for a home at Los Angeles County - Downey in Downey, California. He is a young adult and large in size. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.' Vocal on approach (high/rapid tail wag). He was closed inside (staff was cleaning outside). He would hand target, pupils dilated, baring teeth and some muzzle punching noted. I knelt down and behavior continued, when I stood up I asked for him to \"sit\" which he did before I cracked the door open and was able to leash him without incident. Moderate pull to the yard. Non reactive to the dogs barking (walked through building 6) in the yard he marked several areas (kept him on leash initially) he immediately pulled towards the loose tennis ball. Laid down with the tennis ball to chew. Would trade for a squeak toy but did prefer the tennis ball. Did offer sit and a down stay before being released to chase the tennis ball. Did not seek engagement. Was tolerant of touch and handling \"exam\". If the tennis ball was out of sight, he continued to look for it. I walked him back to his kennel and used the double leash method to return him. His body was neutral, his posture was erect, and his tail was high with a fast wag. He tracked the runner's movements, and bared his teeth. The runner knelt in front of the kennel, and Wally's posture stiffened. His eyes were hard with a focused stare, and he froze when the runner greeted him. He continued to track the runner's movements, while maintaining a stiff body with glowing eyes. The runner presented the leash, and Wally lunged forward, bit the leash with hard pressure, and began tugging it with force. The runner was able to pull the leash away from him after several seconds. Wally could not be safely removed from the kennel at this time. Another attempt will be made at a later date if space and time allow.
