Charles

Charles is an adoptable male Shepherd looking for a home at San Antonio Animal Care Services in San Antonio, Texas. He is a young adult and large in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list and today is the last day, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Charles, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Evaluation Notes: 09/21/2026 - Limited evaluation due to medical Dog is laying down with tense body as I approach and comes over to me as I enter the kennel. He allows affection and after collaring, he snapped at me and growled. I created space where he stood still and I was then able to open the kennel door where he walked outside easily. He displays sociability with dogs at barrier by greeting appropriately with a loose body and a wagging tail and was redirected back to kennel. He was tense when at his kennel door and I positioned his collar to the back of his neck with him facing away from me to easily unclip. He easily allowed me to do so.
