A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out?or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences.? Mr. Freeze was at the front of the kennel jumping excitedly and alert barking as the runner approached. Mr. Freeze settled with verbal corrections and was leashed and removed from the kennel. Once in the catch pen Mr. Freeze was collared and leashed without issue. Mr. Freeze greeted the dogs at the barrier eagerly and was allowed into the play yard. Mr. Freeze displayed a relaxed body, relaxed body, open mouth pant, natural ear set, and soft eyes. Mr. Freeze moved on and explored the yard sniffing and marking various locations. Mr. Freeze appeared timid around the energetic and playful dogs preferring calmer dogs. Mr. Freeze made his way to the handlers soliciting petting from them. Mr. Freeze became loose and wiggly around the handlers appearing to prefer to be around them. Mr. Freeze spent the majority of the play session amongst the handlers soliciting petting and observing the yard with them. At times he would roam the yard then return to the handlers. Mr. Freeze appeared to prefer to be amongst the handlers and calmer dogs and displayed no playstyle. Mr. Freeze could benefit from further socialization and confidence building. Mr. Freeze displayed a relaxed body, closed mouth, natural ear set, loose tail wag, and soft eyes. Mr. Freeze approached the handler and allowed petting. The handler was able to examine Mr. Freeze?s ears, mouth, abdomen, back, lower extremities, and tail without issue. Mr. Freeze maintained a relaxed demeanor throughout the assessment and continued to solicit petting afterward. Mr. Freeze is ok for public adoption medium energy level large dogs ok.
