Helena is an adoptable female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Riverside County Animal Services-Riverside in Jurupa Valley, California. She is fully grown and large in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 5 days left, listed due to behavior. Adopting Helena, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.

STAFF OBSERVATIONS 07/09/26 Dog participated in playgroup today. Dog was observed entering the yard swiftly, giving tense greetings and presenting assertive behaviors with other dogs. Dog was observed being pushy and assertive with other dog, when that dog moved away in an attempt to make space and this dog then continued to go after her starting a minor altercation. 07/14/26 13:27 during kennel walk through observed dog frontal at kennel with high flagging tail and bouncing off kennel door while stress vocalizing. appears to be exhibiting signs of behavior decline. 07/14/26 Dog was out for playgroup with kennel mate. 07/31/26 Dog participated in single session enrichment with kennel mate today. 08/14/26 Dog participated in small playgroup. 08/20/26 Dog was reassessed with muzzle. Was tolerant of other dogs most of the time. On one occasion did charge another female but took correction from handlers. Muzzle stayed on for duration. Will attempt again with group tomorrow. 08/21/26 Dog was reassessed with muzzle work on a small group of dogs. Dog appeared a little tense but then relaxed through out duration of playgroup and muzzle remain on. Dog would prefer to be with kennel mate in yard only. 08/24/26 Dog participated in single session enrichment with kennel mate. 09/15/26 Dog participated in small group.
