Balor

Balor is an adoptable male German Shepherd looking for a home at BARC Animal Shelter in Houston, Texas. He is fully grown and large in size. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 20, 2026. I am in kennel DD28. ID #A2096261 3 years old ' Neutered Male German Shepherd/Akita ' Black/Brown Weight: 86 lbs intake date: 9/20/26 (owner surrender euthanasia request) ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Balor's medical exams on 9/20 and 9/22 were listed as NORMAL, and he is heartworm negative. Balor is sensitive about having his feet/legs handled. His former owner reported that he may try to bite when his feet are touched. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Balor is a big, energetic boy who can become over-aroused around other dogs in the shelter. With people, however, staff have documented a different side. Balor is easy to leash and has shown a calm, relaxed body with his handler. On 9/21, he waited at his kennel door to be leashed, walked outside with a loose leash and relaxed body, and then waited by the run door for staff to bring him back inside. He does pull strongly at times and will need someone comfortable handling a large, powerful dog.
