Gramps is noted to have significant kennel related defensive behavior and handling sensitivity. He has been reported lunging, snapping, growling, and hard barking when handlers approach or attempt to leash him, including teeth baring and snapping at the leash. His behavior has improved with slow, low pressure interactions, and he can be social with familiar handlers once outside of kennel. Medically, Gramps has CIRDC, Cataracts, Collapsing Trachea, Dental Disease, and a Heart Murmur. Gramps arrived at MACC as a stray with no known history. While in care, Gramps has been observed to be highly fearful. Noted to hard bark, growl, bare teeth, and snap when handlers interact with him. Over time Gramps has allowed limited handling but has continued to growl while being leashed. Due to the detailed behavior, we recommend an experienced adult only home.
