This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. Ember is at risk for behavior reasons. Ember is only allowing for minimal handling to go out on walks. She has poor kennel presence, growling at staff as they pass by. Ember escalated to hard barking at staff when they attempt to collar her. She is balking when returning to kennel and becoming difficult to walk as she would like to walk away from the care center. When attempting to coax her back towards the shelter, she is tense, gives whale eyes, huffing, having to be double leashed to return to building. Medically, she has pyoderma and is over conditioned. Due to the detailed behavior issues, this animal is only available for foster/adoption through one of ACC's New Hope Partners. If you are interested in adopting or fostering, please fill out the pre-screener form. This animal is not directly available for adoption through ACC and is only available by completing the pre-screener form.Adoption inquiries sent directly to ACC will not receive a response. Pre-Screener Form Ember is a very fearful dog and currently finds handling outside of walks overwhelming. She is not comfortable with being touched or handled and will give clear warnings when she feels uncomfortable. Her adopters will need to respect her boundaries, pay close attention to her body language, and give her the time and space she needs to build trust. Ember would do best with a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to let a relationship develop gradually and on her terms. She has the potential to make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a dog who communicates clearly and is committed to helping her feel safe and secure. Ember's ideal home: A calm environment with an adopter who understands fearful dogs, respects her boundaries, and is willing to move at her pace.
