Boogey

Boogey is an adoptable male Pit Bull Terrier looking for a home at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control - East in Mesa, Arizona. He is a young adult and medium in size. He is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with only 5 days left, listed due to behavior. Adopting Boogey, or even sharing his story, could save a life before it's too late.

Muckerman Found together: A5172120 A5162124 Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 9/27/2026 handler approached back of kennel, dog was jumping up on door, panting, whining, handler tossed treats and dog went to retrieve them, handler reached leash in, dog came back to door, jumping up, handler struggling to get loop over dogs head due to jumping, increasing arousal, no further interest in treats, dog trying to push out of kennel, got paw stuck under door and screamed, continued to jump up. Handler held smaller loop and attempted to drape over head, dog biting at leash, managed to place loop around neck but the rest of the leash had gotten tangled around leg, dog was pushing out of kennel again, handler let dog out and quickly untangled leash, dog began jumping up on handler, handler held leash out with straight arm and walked to yard, dog would periodically jump up toward handler with open mouth, once in yard dog continued to jump up, mouthing at their legs, leash, etc. Handler kept dog moving to try to get him to disengage, dog could not settle, complete overarousal, heavily panting, handler noticed a small scrape next to dog's eye, lightly bleeding (observation added). Handler attempted to pet dog, dog immediately mouthing at their arm. Handler called for assistance, continued to hold dogs leash at a distance and walk him around yard until other handlers arrived, dog frantically jumping up on them. Dog jumped up on fence when other handlers entered catch pen, then turning and jumping toward handler again. Assistant walked ahead and opened gates, dog was pulling hard toward assistant, handler added clip leash, dog walked right into kennel but would quickly turn and push out, did this 2-3 times before handler was able to secure door, dog pulling hard to front portion of kennel, handler able to remove leash with clip leash. 9/26/2026 Dog was at front of kennel demand barking, neutral body, jumping up on kennel door, would sniff handler with loose wiggly body, pawing at door, then continued to demand bark and jump.
