Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Elmer. I am a male, black Labrador Retriever mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 27, 2026. I am in kennel DB27. ID #A2097160 Labrador Retriever mix Black Male, 8 years old DOB: 9/21/2018 Weight: 95.4 lbs Intake date: 9/27/26 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Elmer is heartworm positive and significantly overweight. He also has a small circular area of hair loss on the right side of his lower back with dry/scaly skin. A skin scraping was negative, and veterinary staff noted that no treatment was currently needed for the area. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Elmer has been described as friendly, treat-motivated and tail-wagging, but shelter life appears to be stressful for him. He has vocalized in his kennel and can pull on leash going to the runs. However, after returning he walks back on a semi-loose leash and then remains quiet and calm for the rest of cleaning. He also accepts treats for redirection.
