Located At: BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions Description: My name is Isla. I am a female, brindle and white German Shepherd Dog mix. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 7 months old. More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 30, 2026. I am in kennel DB23. ID #A2099011 19-month-old female German Shepherd mix Brindle/white Weight: 57.8 lbs Intake date: 9/30/26 ⸻ 🩺 MEDICAL NOTES: Isla was medically noted as normal. She is heartworm negative and received routine vaccinations, deworming and preventative treatment. ⸻ 🐾BEHAVIOR NOTES: Isla is extremely scared in the shelter. She has been observed sitting at the back of her kennel with a tense body, worried expression and tail tucked tightly against her body. She avoids eye contact, paces during cleaning and has buried her face into the back corner of the kennel. When leashed, Isla has been too frightened to move. Treats and gentle baby talk weren't enough to overcome her fear, and on one occasion she had to be muzzled and carried to another kennel. This young girl is overwhelmed and needs a quiet, patient place where she can decompress and begin to feel safe.
