A dog's behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home. Stress, confinement, and unfamiliar surroundings can cause dogs to act out'or suppress behaviors that may emerge later. A dog's behavior may change based on surroundings, training, medical, socialization, and life experiences. She was puppy-like with a wiggly body and seeking affection while the runner easily clasped the collar around her neck. She remained loose while greeting several dogs through the fence. She timidly entered the yard, appearing to lack confidence. She slowly explored, tolerating several dogs coming up to greet her. A male husky mix came up to her obnoxiously and tried enticing her for play. She did not appreciate his physicality as he pawed and jumped over her, causing her to lower her body and expose her teeth. After a few minutes she became more comfortable with his energy and began exploring the yard with him. He occasionally reverted to his physical play attempts, causing her to shut down but she would quickly recover and become playful. She was very affectionate with the handlers, lightly jumping on them with a wiggly body while soliciting affection. She found a female shepherd to play with. The two chased around the yard for a long time. Initially the shepherd was gentle with her. The shepherd eventually became more physical, causing her to give her teeth warnings when it became too much. She also engaged in some chase play with a male pit bull who she was able to connect with more as his play was very gentle. She remained playful and friendly for the rest of her time in the yard. She is young and lacks confidence and will need continued socialization. She will need basic manner training for her extremely light jumping.
