NERVOUS AROUND STRANGERS, WARMS UP WITH TIME Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 10/3/2026 Dog was kenneled outside with kennel mate for AM cleaning, handler spoke softly at door, dog was tucked into front corner, pushing kennel mate as he retreated to back corner, tense, rounded posture, tucked tail, handler opened door and stepped in, gently draped leash over dogs head as he sat stiff in corner, handler lifted dog and carried out of kennel, dog was tense and frozen in place, handler placed dog in M&G room, dog sat in corner, tense shaking, avoiding eye contact with handler, no interest in treats. Dog slightly shifted position as handler came up and sat down next to dog, left sweaty paw prints on floor. Dog was shaking intensely causing head to bob, handler decided to end interaction due to high FAS, lifted dog easily and carried back to kennel, removed leash by hand and placed inside. 10/1/2026 Handler approached kennel front; Solicited attention to kennel mate; coaxed outside and closed guillotine; This dog was in kennel; timid; Avoidant of handler; Retreats to corner and sits with ears pinned; Handler tried to coax forward with treats and dog remained in back; Handler had to step in and place leash over head; Dog allowed over head placement; Remained pancaked; Handler pet with end of leash dog allowed and remained still; Handler was able to pick up; dog defecated; Carried to yard; Dog remained in handlers arms; Handler pet dog along way to yard; Once in yard handler spent first few minutes petting dog in arms; Dog was shaking; timid; tail tucked; ears pinned; Handler set down dog; Dog walked yard and walked to corner; remained in corner cowering shaking; didn't move; If handler approached dog would defecate; tense up; eyes unsure; but dog didn't retreat away; remained in place; Dog allowed handler to pet and approach; remained with ears to side; soft stare; shaking; handler allowed dog to decompress; later handler pick up and pet walking around yard; Dog remained shaking in handlers arms; Dog would hear its kennel mate from afar; ears would perk up and dog would walk in direction of sound; Handler approached and picked up again; carried back to kennel; dog remained in handlers arms; shaking; ears alert; tail tucked; Once at kennel; handler unleashed and placed in kennel; Started to tail wag and relaxed once seeing kennel mate in kennel after handler reopened guillotine; 9/30/2026 growled at initial approach from handler, tied again minutes later and allowed to be picked up, body trembling, tolerated some petting, light restraint for vaccines, carried to kennel Medical Treatments 10/6/2026 Canine obsereved to be walking with a hunched back, and stiff back legs.
