Placement with a New Hope Partner is required by close of business 10/12/26 to provide appropriate behavior management and post-adoption support. AGGRESSION TOWARDS HOUSEHOLD CAT How long have you had your pet? 5 YEARS Where did you get this animal from? FROM SOMEONE GIVING AWAY PUPPIES Is your pet spayed/neutered? SPAYED Is this animal currently showing any signs of illness, taking any medication, or has the animal been diagnosed with a medical or behavioral condition? OVER THE PAST YEAR THE PET HAS GOTTEN IN ALTERCATIONS WITH ONE OF THE TWO HOUSEHOLD CATS. ONE OF THE ALTERCATIONS 2 MONTHS AGO RESULTED IN THE CAT HAVING ITS JAW BROKEN. AN INCIDENT ONE YEAR AGO RESULTED IN THE CAT HAVING A TOOTH KNOCKED OUT. SOURCE STATED THIS PET AND THE CAT GOT ALONG OKAY FOR AWHILE AFTER THE INCIDENT THAT RESULTED IN THE CAT'S BROKEN JAW, BUT THEN RECENTLY HAD ANOTHER FIGHT THAT DID NOT RESULT IN ANY OBSERVED INJURIES TO THE CAT. How is the animal around children? GOOD WITH CHILDREN AGES 7 YEARS AND UP. Please describe behavior around children? SOURCE STATED THE DOG LOVES THE CHILDREN AND PLAYS WELL WITH THEM. Please list all household members the animal lives with or regularly interacts with, and describe interactions? THREE CHILDREN AND ONE ADULT. SOURCE STATED A5172467 IS FRIENDLY WITH ALL MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD. A5172467 HAS NOT BEEN SOCIALIZED OUTSIDE OF THE HOME AND IS NOT FRIENDLY WITH STRANGERS. Please describe how the animal interacts with other animals? Cats? RECENTLY STARTED SHOWING AGGRESSION TOWARDS ONE OF THE CATS IN THE HOME. SOURCE STATED SOMETIMES A5172467 IS FRIENDLY WITH THE CAT, OTHER TIMES, THE DOG AND CAT WILL GET IN FIGHTS. SOURCE STATED IT IS RANDOM. THE DOG WILL GO AFTER THE CAT AND THE TWO WILL FIGHT. Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 10/7/2026 Handler approached kennel front; Dog was timid; ears alert; nervous whine; retreats to back; Comes forward once handler said lets go potty;outside; Dog came up but retreated back when handler closes guillotine; Handler re approached back; Dog was standing neutral bodied; nervous whine; Handler cracked door and held leash in opening; Dog came forward; bolted forward; erratic walk; pull forward; strong pull to exit; defecated on way to kennel; Handler spoke softly and walked dog into catch pen; light petting along head and back; dog allowed; walked in and added drag line; Handler held onto leash and pet dog for a few minutes; Dog allowed and started to solicit pets; still timid and wary of environment; would scan yard and look in directions of dogs barking nearby; Handler spoke softly and dropped leash; Dog roamed yard; would check in and sniff; solicited pets to handler and would lay head on lap; shortly later defecating more and urinated; dog may have been previously potty trained; calm low energy demeanor; didn't jump up on handler at all; soft stared over at handler; wasn't interested in treats; remained neutral bodied and tail aligned as she explored yard; Would come up and solicit pets periodically but was content and more independent; still seemed nervous; anxious; precaution; would greet handler at fence line with caution; Another dog was in passing of yard and dog watched dog and approached shortly later after dog already past yard when time to go handler said lets go; dogs ears perked up; came to catch pen; Allowed leash adjustment; Walked back with strong pull; entered right into kennel; unleashed by hand; 10/6/2026 Dog was in back of kennel, froze and had lowered posture, wide eyes when handler came into view, began speaking softly to dog, tossed hot dogs with no interested from dog, began calling dogs name and saying \"lets go potty/outside\", dog perked and began walking forward but quickly turned back around when handler began reaching for door, dog would grumble and whine, guillotine and reapproached from back, dog was at front of kennel looking up at handler, handler began opening door and dog grumbled and backed up, came forward again and put nose at opening, handler placed large loop through kennel door and was able to gently toss over dogs head and secure, dog stayed in place and allowed placement, walked out quickly, moderate pull on leash walking to door, would pull strongly through doorways, once in yard, handler walked with dog forward then dropped leash, dog went to corner of yard and paced fenceline, tail tucked, handler sat at bench, dog was panting, looking out, began pawing at fence, handler called to dog and dog would walk over and sniff handler then walk back to fence, continued pawing, putting muzzle through holes of fence, jumped up at fence, handler got up and walked near dog, began calling to dog, dog would flinch when stepping on leash while walking, trying to avoid walking on it, began coming up to handler and staying for pets, allowed petting all over, walked back to fence, handler picked up leash and walked dog around yard, dog followed, dropped leash, dog walked back to fence but would be more engaged with handler when handler would call dog over, settled more and began sniffing yard, urinated and defecated, came up to handler on own, ate hot dog out of hand gently, leaned against handler while being pet, placed chin on lap, handler picked up leash and began walking back, some zig zagging along the way, light pull on leash, entered kennel on own and removed leash by hand. 10/5/2026 Handlers approached front kennel; dog was in back kennel. Handler lowered guillotine locking dog in back kennel and reapproached. Handler tried to offer treats; dog was not interested and stared at handler. Dogs posture was slightly rounded and trembling with ears back. Handler began leashing attempts, dog was avoidant and would maneuver head around to slide leash off after castings. Dog adjusted around and paced while handler prepared leash between casts and nuzzled guillotine with muzzle. Dog let out whines and low grumbles during leashing attempts. Handler was able to secure leash after several attempts. Dog exited kennel and pulled strongly on path to PY, dog chuffed and sniffed around with head up and full pilo. Handler walked dog around yard for a while, dog continued to pull and would chuff when passing by assistant handler. Dog greeted assistant handler sniffed hand and walked away. Lead handler placed leash extension and adjusted leash stopper, dog was released. Dog stayed near handlers and pawed/nuzzled at exit gate. Handlers were able to call dog over by name and briefly pet but dog would return to gate. Handler retrieved leash and walked dog back to kennel. Handler placed clip leash for removal. Dog again pulled strongly and entered kennel without issue.
