Evaluation Comments (Observations from our staff and volunteers) 10/5/2026 Dog was locked in back kennel for AM cleaning. Handler approached back kennel, dog was seated near gate. Handler was able to present leash and place within a few attempts, dog was mildly avoidant but allowed handler to secure after a few attempts. Once leash was secured handler opened gate and walked dog to nearest PY. Dog was pawing at gate and pulling strongly as handler closed all yard gates, securing dog in yard. Handler adjusted leash stopper and released dog. Dog paced exterior fence line briefly and the approached handler who was seated on bench, dog approached with lose posture and placed front paws on handlers lap. Handler was able to guide dog off and then dog returned to pacing PY, hovering near and pawing at exit gates. Dog paced around perimeter with flagged tail and heavy panting, handler stood up to try and entice with toys. Dog approached and began jumping up on handler, dog continued to do this a few more times. Handler tried to redirect behavior into play with toys or treat toss game, but dog continued to just jump up at and push on handler. Dog did not mouth at handler, handler grabbed leash and held dog back with stiff arm. Dog stopped jumping up and began strongly pulling towards and pawing at exits again. Handler retrieved leash, placed clip leash and walked back to kennel. Dog was hesitant to enter but followed after handler, handler had to again hold dog back with taut leash while closing gate and remove leash using clip leash. Dog attempted to push out during leash removal. 10/2/2026 Handler approached kennel back; Dog was outside for AM cleaning; Dog was laying down when handler approached; neutral body and tail; ears alert; Handler unlocked door and held leash in opening; Dog came forward allowing easy leashing; dog walked out with moderate pull; Dog walked into yard and allowed handler to secure stopper; Handler held onto leash and added drag line; Dog immediately was urinating and defecating; dog may have been previously potty trained; Dog would explore yard; pace fence line and pace back and forth to both exits; did some pawing at exit; handler would call by named and dis-engaged dog; handlers would try and coax dog over; Dog wasn't interested; Would walk in close proximity of both handlers but seemed wary if handlers attempted to reach out and pet or show hands to sniff; Dog would keep walking around yard; Would come over near handlers if handler were walking yard or sitting on bench but didn't solicit pets; Dog kept going to exit and pawing at exit; handler walked over and grabbed leash; Dog was wagging tail excited; more realxed and loose; allowed handler to adjust leash around neck and light petting at fence exit; added clip leash for precaution; dog was more willing; excitable and peppy with trotting until we exited yard; dog walked out mild to moderate leash pull; some zig zagging; dog entered building thresholds with ease; walked to back of kennel; ignored dogs in passing; went right in; unleashed by clip lead; 9/30/2026 Dog was laying on bed; Ears alert; timid but greets handler; Sniffs handler; Low growls; Side eyed and held head lower stance; Stoic; backs away from handler; **Due to current kennel presence and previous notes; Requesting Full Evaluation.** 9/26/2026 Approached dog in lobby to apply leash. He turned and gave a hard stare with stiff body stance. Handler turned away and approached slowly from side, able to put on slip lead. Walked to triage. Dog was avoidant of touch. Eventually handler could pet head but with any touch dog would quickly back away and give hard intense stare. Muzzle for vaccines. Dog flinched with touch. Walked to kennel, used clip leash to remove slip lead. 4/1/2021 initially tried to approach dog in backyard with leash. Dog took a stance and started barking violently at me, switch to a snare which everytime I got close he would attack and bite the snare. Was able to get the snare around him, switched to net and was able to net the dog. Transfer onto a snare, dog fought the snare and resisted all attempts to lead but stayed on his feet. Had to lift body in my arms while keeping snare intact around the dog and was finally able to get him in the kennel. 4/1/2021 dog was headshy, used snare for safety based on previous behavior. Dog resisted, but did not attempt to bite, also was able to place snare without him biting the snare.
