Blanco
Siberian Husky
Urgent: 1 Day Left
Scheduled: October 10, 2026
Reason: Lack of Space
Blanco is an adoptable female Siberian Husky looking for a home at Philadelphia Animal Care and Control in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is fully grown and large in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to lack of space. Adopting Blanco, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.
Blanco ACCT-A-261587 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Blanco must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER, FOSTER or RESCUE PARTNER by SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH at 10AM. Should Blanco's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Blanco! This stunning snow-white husky girl is about 2 years old and came to ACCT Philly on September 12th after she was found running loose on a Philadelphia street corner. No one came forward to claim her, and now this beautiful girl is ready for a home of her own. Blanco spent her first couple of weeks with us recovering from surgery on short, quiet walks. Now that she's done with her restrictions, her true personality is shining through, and it turns out she's a playful girl! She loves chasing toys, she \"talks\" to the other dogs, and she does excited tippy taps at the door on her way outside. She's easy to leash, walks with only mild pulling, and leans into petting with soft eyes and a happy, wagging tail. True to her husky roots, she's also a bit independent. She doesn't always ask for attention, and she isn't interested in treats until she feels comfortable, but once she does, she takes them gently. She knows sit and stay, too! Blanco recently went on a day trip with a volunteer, and she had a blast! She walked around Fishtown, ran and played catch in the grass at Fairmount Park, and got some great zoomies in before curling up for a nap in the car. She was very comfortable in new surroundings, walked great on leash, and didn't react to people, runners, or bikers at all. She was excited by animals she saw but didn't react, with the exception of squirrels, which definitely caught her attention. Her volunteer did note that she gets FAST once she starts running and may grab the leash in her mouth when you run with her. She also likes to put her paws on the car door panel, so window locks are a must! With other dogs, Blanco has had good greetings both through the fence and in playgroup. She tends to sniff, move away on her own, and check in with her handlers, and she will give corrections to let other dogs know when she's had enough. When she gets excited about a dog through the fence, she can be called away easily with light leash pressure. Blanco is looking for an active home that will enjoy her playful spirit and give her plenty of exercise and enrichment. Since her recall is still a work in progress and she's quick on her feet, she'll need a family who will keep her on leash or in a securely fenced area. If you're looking for a gorgeous, chatty, fun-loving adventure buddy, come meet Blanco! A titer test showed she has good antibody levels against parvo, which means she has good protection and is at low risk of becoming infected, though this is not a guarantee. A veterinarian approved her medical release for adoption. There is a low chance she could carry and shed the virus. Parvo is contagious to other dogs, especially unvaccinated puppies, but not to people or cats. Adopters should consult their veterinarian about any aftercare. 9/12 Intake: Some hair loss on her back end. --Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
