Betsy
Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie
Urgent: 1 Day Left
Scheduled: October 10, 2026
Reason: Other
Betsy is an adoptable female Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie looking for a home at Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is a young adult and small in size. She is currently on the shelter's euthanasia list with just one day left, listed due to other. Adopting Betsy, or even sharing her story, could save a life before it's too late.
Intake Info: This girl A2346021, was left by the owner when they moved out of the house. We were able to contact the owner who surrendered her to us over the phone. We've named this girl Betsy. Medical: When clinic staff went to see her, she was laying on the bed and didn't want to approach. She was given Nexgard Plus in her food. Staff Notes: I have double leashed her in an effort to get her outside and hoping to help her decompress. I have been successful multiple times in leashing her, but she has no interest in wanting to go outside. When I approach her, inside of the kennel, she goes into a flight defensive mode. She will go into a corner then attempt to bite the leash until she realizes it means her no harm. She has a stiff tail and eyes wide during these interactions but does relax somewhat when on the leash. I have opened up the side door to go outside and she has no interest in going outside during these interactions. Request to Rescues: This poor girl was abandoned by her owner and is now fearful and shut down here at the shelter. She needs a rescue who can show her the love she deserves and give her the time and space to decompress. With patience and some TLC, this sweet girl can become the best companion to the right home. Full medical processing can be done once we get a commitment for her. Animal ID\tA2346021 Color\tbrown Sex\tunsterilized female Size\tsmall Weight\t15 lbs. Age\t3 years
